For The Benefit of Mr. Dee (Reprise)For Immediate Release For Further Information Contact: Adam Lewis The Planetary Group (617) 451-0444 x223 (updated) Friday, April 26, 2001 Boston - The Planetary Group, The Noise, Boston Rock Opera, & WMFO, present "For the Benefit of Mr. Dee, (Reprise)," five days of shows throughout metro Boston that will honor and raise money for local music champion, radio host, writer, and musician, Mikey Dee. Dee, 37, who was stricken February 7th, 2000, with a brain stem stroke, is currently at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. The events will run Wednesday, May 2nd through Sunday May 6th at 17 venues and will feature over one hundred and forty (140) bands and artists. This is the second year of the event. Last years event raised $60,000 and featured Letters To Cleo, Buffalo Tom, The Push Stars and 130 other acts. Some of the Boston music communities brightest stars have donated their time to this event, including: Jess Klein, Mr. Lif, Angry Salad, Heidi, Howie Day, Tracy Bonham, Nulset, C-60, Bleu, Amazing Crowns, Ruby Horse, Barbara Kessler, Deb Pasternak, Entrain, O Positive (Reunion) and Birdsongs of The Mesozoic, among many others. Also performing is Boston Rock Opera, who will present a special performance of The Beatles’ landmark album, Abbey Road. Performers in this special performance include: Chris Mascara, Gary Cherone (Extreme, Van Halen), Peter Moore, Mick Maldonado, Linda Viens, Bleu, Brian Gottesman, T Max, Valerie Forgione and many others. All monies raised from this event will be donated to the Mikey Dee Musician’s Benefit Trust, which has been established to assist with Dee’s long term medical and living expenses.
